The beauty of having a rustic-themed wedding is that your cake doesn’t have to be perfectly prim and proper – toss that fondant out the window! With a few pans and a trial run or two, you can make and decorate your own wedding cake. Baking is always easiest with an assistant or two so invite your fiance – or your in-laws – for an afternoon of kitchen chemistry. What a sweet way to bond before the big day! Plus, if you bake your own cake, you’re not limited by a bakery’s stock recipes so you can carry your rustic wedding theme into the cake recipe itself.

Here are a few fantastic, unusual recipes that would fit beautifully into a rustic, nature-centric wedding:

Blackberry Cake
Cornmeal Rosemary Cake with Lemon Fondant
Coconut-Pineapple Cake with Cream Cheese Frosting
Chocolate Strawberry-Orange Cake
Cinnamon Sugar Plum Cake
Almond Cake with Sugar Dusting
Blueberry-Topped Fiori di Sicilia Cake
Pumpkin Cake
Cinnamon-Apple Orchard Cake

Kristi - Oh thank you so much for the mention and the link! That has to be one of my all time favorite cakes! I have received a couple of e-mails regarding the owls on top…so in case you do, I found out that they are from a private collection and not for sale…how sad. Hope you have a lovely weekend!
